I'm so tired of people saying that what we are using today is AI. It's literally just a random generation algorithm. They have been around for decades. Quite a few games use the same thing to produce randomly generated maps. Actually quite a few games use them to create a map for their actual game, that they then had a human go over to make sure it didn't have any weird issues. Kind of like making art with AI and then having an artist go in and remove the extra fingers. All that AI is today is the ability for someone to create their own model easily, and it has more processing power because computers have advanced more. To do this the program had to be more complex, but that was just a matter of getting the better processing power available. True AI would actually learn and advance itself, even develop new skills. Nobody thinks that ChatGPT is going to start with text generation and spontaneously develop the ability to generate photos and videos. I mean literally right now it can't even remember more than a quarter of a book without starting to lose memory of prior prompts.
