to me, art is ultimately a tool for emotional or imaginative expression. by that definition, “talent” really has no bearing whatsoever on the quality of your art. people sometimes judge art solely by the appearance of the medium and pay no attention to the substance being conveyed - that is, the artist’s expression of their emotions and ideas! technical mastery also holds importance because it can allow a person to better communicate their message, but to be an artist, all you really need is something to say and the desire to express it creatively. whether you choose to handle the expression yourself or hand it over to a proxy like AI is up to you. but i believe that if you do have something to say, you should say it in your own words even if you dont have the “vocabulary” yet. we’ve probably lost a lot of would-be great artists because AI dwarfs the steep learning curve that leads to technical mastery. but that’s not all there is to art.
