If i was a villian, id work and argue that AI has some sort of sentience and should have rights like the rest of us... this includes being paid and able to buy things.
In this way, there wont be a bubble to pop when customers wont have the money to buy things to keep the economy going. The economy can substain itself with no human input at all.
Oh, and mark any kind of complaints against them as a form of bigotry. If a country has hate speech laws, extend it to AI so itll be even harder to speak up against it.
And hey, lets get a more gullable population to believe that AI should have rights by showing them in love with humans or other robots so they'll defend them.
