I remember a protest last year, well a planned protest, by workers.The Chinese government tracked everyone who tried to get on transit that day and all of them were automatically banned from leaving the city for at least three months.
They also prevented all citizens from going to the protest destination and some workers were given home arrest(confined to their houses) punishments.
