I personally am an artist or claim to at least be somewhat decent in doing creative work as I drew and designed plenty of digital and non-digital creations over the years and I, sometimes, use AI generation for textures, basic assets or backgrounds that i edit to my liking to fit the final piece, but in no way will I ever call something directly taken from the AI generation an art piece of mine. Heck, I even have trouble taking credit for some partly generated assets that I spent hours editing and/or animating. So, no, AI art is not art that can be copyrighted. It is indeed an incredbile tool for multiple applications even in art, but it will and shall never have the title of copyrighted work. It is indeed somewhat of a brush or tool you can use to gain some time in your creative process, but it will always be AI art, free of copyright and free of the creativeness lable.
