That's the thing, you can "do art" for it's own sake, and then AI is utterly useless, or you can "do art" to achieve other goals such as communicating a story, illustrating an idea, making a room look "yours" or making a texture for a game. For the latter diffusion models can be perfectly sensible tools, as the art is just a means to an end, even though I worry about the part where those are exactly the same things as where an artist could typically earn money 😔.
