AI is equivalent to nuclear fission, where a chain reaction is set up creating tremendous amount of heat that can obliterate an entire world if not properly controlled!!
AI will eventually do the same. it can programme itself to infinite knowledge. in the wrong hands (terrorists, rogue nations, etc) it could be utterly destructive. human GREED, for power and control, will ensure that AI will be used in the most destructive manner ever imaginable!!
