I think there needs to be something like a threshold of creative input by the artist, to qualify for copyright protection. Similar to the substantial transformation criteria associated with fair use. In this case, where the "artist" has had essentially no creative input, I think it's pretty obvious that copyright protection should not apply.
On the other hand, if someone created a film, were they wrote the story, turned that into a script, storyboarded the whole thing, hired voice actors for all the roles, then used text descriptions of those storyboards to generate short video clips with ai, before editing it all into a cohesive film, I think that could warrant copyright protection.
