"Are we concerned over economic superiority over China, or ensuring that we dont destroy the human race" Im sorry but thats quite a dumb way to put it, in the hypothetical scenario where AI is gonna destroy the human race, the the fact that China develops it would end the human race, it doesnt matter if the West develops it first, the results are the same. This is like saying the US shouldnt have developed a Nuclear bomb, because the human race is more important than the US superiority over the USSR.
