when a human clearly uses another artists composition, color scheme and/or design, they're supposed to credit the original. Of course, we'll never know everything about how someone made a piece of art, but its widely considered a bad thing when you clearly had heavy inspiration in something and deny that or dont credit it (example, having a character drawn in the exact pose and style as another artist's work). Tracing is just considered bad if you're gonna claim you did it by yourself (not talking about using tracing to study). Literally stealing chunks of people's works is even worse, imagine you just steal a guy's bg and claim it as your own, ofc that's a bad thing. AI "artists" write down what they want, the AI gives it to them without bothering to credit the artists it took things from, and the "artist" won't bother researching either, so AI is literally stealing chunks of artists' works (there's been images with full signatures the AIs forgot to take from the bgs they use) and not giving credit, and people are making money from that. It's like going to a bunch of bakeries, stealing chocolate cake pieces from all till you have enough to build a cake yourself, then selling it as your own, as if you hadn't stolen the pieces. The difference between AI and artists is, good artists wouldn't steal the cake, they'd get the recipe. Bad artists who steal exist, and we dont condone that.
