As the owner of a Tesla vehicle I will have to point out several issues with this.
1. In both Autopilot and Full Self Driving modes, the car defers to the driver. In fact, if you are pressing down the accelerator while those are engaged, you will get a warning telling you that the car will not brake. The fault is the driver’s, not Tesla’s.
2. Autopilot and FSD are two very different technologies. Autopilot is basically just lane-keeping technology, while FSD handles all driving functions. FSD Has come a long way,and while it is definitely not perfect yet, it has driven me for hours-long drives on local roads, main roads, and highways with no issues. It drives me almost everywhere, except when I simply feel like driving.
3. Does Elon overpromise? OH, HELL YES. The famous phrase amongst Tesla owners is that Elon always promises things in “2 weeks” or “by the end of the year” - and in almost all cases these are laughable claims.
