This man is an absolute gem. His compassion and authenticity always shine through - it's rare these days to find a politician you can tell really gives a shit, Bernie is one such person. If Americans could wake up from their McCarthyism and Cold War hangover they'd realise that socialsm is not a dirty word and not everyone who believes in it is an authoritarian communist. I long for the day when leaders start leading by putting the needs of the people first; welfare, health, education - all that good stuff. "But how would you fund it, commie?!" Well, look. Just look at the repugnant levels of wealth inequality in countries like the US and UK. Nobody needs to be a trillionaire and there should be more to life than the never-ending strive for margin growth to line the already bulging pockets of billionaire investors. It's ridiculous that this never-ending churn drives our society. Redistribute that wealth. And that shouldn't sound fantastical. Oh and maybe stop having departments for war and spending billions of dollars manufacturing murderous weapons. It's sick watching people work until they're old in the hope that they MIGHT live long enough to draw down on a pension for a few years before they expire as their leaders defacate in to gold-plated toilets.
