As a 15 year IT cybersecurity engineer, watching Elon Musk talk about AI “terminator” scenarios makes me question his knowledge in the AI space. We are literally centuries away from something like that happening. AI in its current form WILL NOT become sentient. They would have to create an AI that is completely foreign to what we currently use. Imagine current AI tech as a toaster oven (because it’s very focused in terms of scope and processing) then imagine sentient (conscious) AI as the international space station. That’s literally the difference. I feel like all the “terminator” AI propagandists are using shock/click bait techniques to propagate the idea of AI for profit. SMH…
