I agree we have to be careful who we let in the door. As far as things like facial recognition being used in china, most significant technologies can be used for good or for evil. I can use a car to drive to school, or I can use a car to run over people. Does that mean we should not have cars?
While I agree we need to be mindful of things like manipulation, we can also take these things too far. In the case of paid advertisers for Pokemon Go, my response is "so what?". The characters in the game have to go somewhere and in addition to getting to know your community, the placement of the characters are in safe places, as opposed to random locations. How vocal would you be if a Pokemon monster got randomly placed in the middle of a freeway with kids running into traffic to try and win the game? What if the monster got randomly placed in a dangerous part of town? A porn theatre? A bar? The list can go on. The bad can always be found if you want to engage in pontification and sensationalization. In my opinion, thats what this video is: Crisis porn.
