How is this related to algorithms? No software capable of homicide should be left unattended by an operator. Ever. Period. Software is as falable as the humans that make it, but without millions of years of fine tuned adjustments by evolution.
And I'm VERY pro self-driving cars, and a Sr Software Engineer myself. But damn, take some ownership.
Uber is just glad this scandal was spun into being about bad code rather than bad training/hiring. Code is way easier to fix than stupid people. or whatever thing was driving that car.
