I dont think we should call ai art ugly because its gotten really good at mimicking the artists they straight up steal from. So youre basically saying the artist's art style is ugly...
I also dont align with stealing ai art as a sign of rebellion against it because in a way, youre also still stealing from the original artist just like the ai jerk who took from them is. Concepts and characters, sure, but the "art" itself? Not right.
Thats just my opinion as an artist tho who is in constant fear of the pinterest ai bums taking my style since they specifically like stealing more cartoony/chibi styles
