I'm currently reading Brief Answers To The Big Questions by Stephen Hawking, and one of the chapters is about the rapid development of AI, it ends with this, "When we invented fire, we messed up repeatedly, then invented the fire extinguisher. (...) Our future is a race between the growing power of our technology and the wisdom with which we use it. Let's make sure that wisdom wins."
I think that if one of the smartest people of our time was worried about how much AI was taking over (and keep in mind he died in 2018, so this is at most 7 years ago), and believed that the only thing that could stop it was people being people... he was probably right.
AI is developing even quicker nowadays, and the only thing that can stop it from taking over is humans being humans. Humans creating art, and blocking AI from stealing it and putting out anything useful. Creativity is a core part of humanity, and our humanity is the only thing that can out out the forest fire that is AI "art".
