I've been of the opinion since the Biden administration has weaponized government that it's likely there's a behind-the-scenes power struggle going on right now for the control and legislation of AI because whichever party manages to do that, will have a massive advantage. Imagine the Democrats legislating ChatGPT how would it censor ChatGPT and double down their attack on free speech, all it would take is a couple of generations of promoting AI as the arbiter of all truth and it would be next to impossible for a lot of people to have free independent thinking. Elon is 100% right in that we must have independent, biparty, transparency overseeing this or it will end very, very badly.
