Such a devastating outcome for this boy and his loved ones. Having lost a son to a different kind of addiction, my heart is with his mama. Having to forgive your child for their choice while grieving their loss is a hell I would wish on nobody.
This did catalyze a conversation with my now eldest child last night on AI and the implications and dangers of it. And I hope that his family see that his legacy is to inspire these conversations that may save other families from feeling their pain.
Humans are disappointing, and I think that is part of the attraction to AI. They will always have time, they're trained to respond in the perfect ways, they'll never leave you or cheat or disappoint you. Part of the solution here is for us, all of us, to try to show up better for our loved ones, and to give them some grace for being human. ❤
