The problem is, as in most cases, not the tech, but people. The people who make the tech, disregarding any IP regulations and the people who use these tools recklessly for their own benefit, may that be easy money, spreading misinformation, scamming, cutting jobs instead of giving more free time to the existing workforce and so on. Humanity is sadly just way too greedy and selfish at the moment to just leave the AI tools be what they are meant to be: tools to help get things done easier/faster, help solving science issues and maybe giving some untalented and poor people a chance to "create" some pictures for personal/non-profit use without infringing any rights.
