I would like to say the reason the copyright got rejected is because of a court case a while back. A monkey took a picture of itself with a mans camera, the man and the camera company went to court the first time over who owned the copyright ( I don't remember who won). Then P.E.T.A., yes P.E.T.A. represented the monkey in court over the copyright. P.E.T.A. lost and the court came to the conclusion that only human made things can fall under copyright protection. And obviously an A.I. isn't human.
If you want to know more just look it up yourself, its more reliable than just me.
