thank you for a level-headed argument ✌the doom-saying and overly negative echo-chamber surrounding this topic has been getting out of hand for a long time.  i'm a graphic designer professionally, and i chose to keep art as my hobby. i've been working in the industry for 12 years now, and have been working for the same company (happily) for the last 5 and a half years. i realize that this path isn't the same for everyone, and that there are many people out there that want to turn art into a career. but there are plenty of other options that are equally fulfilling. as far as AI art "taking over" -- without the development of Adobe software (Photoshop) in the 80s, the job i'm currently able to do today wouldn't exist. i get a twisty feeling in my gut every time i read a comment from someone saying they're giving up on art because AI technology exists. traditional printing presses aren't commonly used at all anymore, yet there is still a very active niche collective of people that still use them to produce handmade flyers, posters, prints, and booklets. and in most cases, they're more valued than anything you can buy en masse off of Amazon. respectfully, to anyone wanting to give up on something you love because you're afraid of the future, i don't believe that you ever really truly loved it in the first place.  if you care about it enough, there is *always* a path forward. but giving up on it entirely is just an excuse not to put forth the work and effort to find it.
