I've seen this mentioned a couple times now, and I feel it is worth correcting. Humans do not normally die from holding their breath too long. You will eventually pass out, and your body automatically starts breathing again. I have always known this because my sister was such a stubborn child that she would do exactly that when she didn't get her way. My parents would let her pass out, and she would be fine. Now, you can get hurt from fainting and hitting your head on something, but from what I've seen in the course of double checking this fact, dying from holding your breath is not really possible.
