I agree with Roger Penrose's theory about AI. But...why does it matter if AI is conscious or not. What does matter is the real world power of AI. A four year old child isn't conscious, but give it a cigarette lighter and it becomes very powerful. AI already has access to several metaphoric cigarette lighters.
