Can you imagine walking into court citing case law without having read the case? It really does take all of ten seconds to look up a precedent on WestLaw etc and then maybe twenty minutes to read the decision plus a couple of scholarly essays on it. AI is like most other forms of automation, a fine tool to be used by a skilled human but absolutely not (yet) a substitute for human intelligence and judgment
