I don't think machines can become sentient. I think sentient is an illusion. From my view, we're just very advanced objects. We're the AI. Everything is "artificial" or everything is real. Man and machine are made from the same blocks in the same universe governed by the same rules. Why?? who knows, but the only thing that we seem to want to accomplish is advance technologically. I think we're a simulation of some sort. Which, to me is the same thing as having Gods. It's not an anti spiritual idea to me.
