Several years ago, I'd programmed a very early iPod to play an album of Bengali Music, then (while walking around The British Museum) started thinking I should write to a friend in Trinity, Cambridge, that I was sorry to have missed Beethoven's 9th in their chapel, the iPod finished the track it was on, played all of the last section of Beethoven's Choral Symphony, then went back to playing the Bengali album.
All this time the iPod had been in my pocket, untouched...apart from the headphones on their thin wire lead ..I was incredibly impressed and
just assumed the AI(?) was telepathic as well as being very helpful..it had mirrored my thoughts before but never to the extent of switching albums, which would have completely overrode its programming(?)
The description of the AI's in this program sound like scary malicious people..is it naive to hope that if we're nice to them they'll be nice to us?
