To make the claim that the autonomous truck will reduce hwy deaths from truck accidents to ZERO is beyond foolish. Even with crash mitigation systems in place now, truck accidents can never be reduced to zero. Furthermore, who is going to insure these trucks after they run someone over or can’t recover from a blowout and cross the median and kill a family. The public outrage alone will shut them down. If a driver not even at fault can be held responsible and account for a MULTI MILLION $$ settlement, I can only imagine what a lawyer could wring out of an insurance company insuring a driverless truck. This is way more about drivers and jobs, the very future of an entire industry is in the balance.
