It's one thing to mistake ChatGPT for a search engine. But jeez, the chain the incompetence: he submits cases that he can't find because he just assumed they were real and his buddy signed off on them practically sight unseen. Any amount of accountability at any point in that chain would've brought the fact it was nonsense to light. One has to assume it was a complete rush job for so many balls to be dropped at each step of the way.
