If I could say something: I go to SCAD, a renowned art school, and I cannot tell you how much the STAFF encourages AI. They always talk about this “right way to use it” bullshit, which let’s be honest, nobody in the real world abides by. And they understand the job threat, but their defense is “it’ll create more jobs.” Yeah, so did the Industrial Revolution, but it threw so many people out because they didn’t have the skills necessary to just jump back in. I’m a writing major—I know it’s a stupid major and I’m prepared to face the consequences—but for the life of me, I cannot understand what makes you a valid writer if you use ChatGPT to make anything. We spent over 2,025 years without it and produced works like Moby Dick, the Odyssey, Blood Meridian, Heart of Darkness, and so many more. A professor went off on me one time when she had us group up to discuss a video she described as AI being used correctly. She asked us to use that to shape our views on AI. When some of us didn’t have a positive view of it, she got all angry with everybody. I already despise my college’s morality, but that right there is just… fucking hell, dude. That’s plain sad.
