AI generated stuff is not art. It is a product. But on the other end, what is art? As an artist, you did not come up with your art all by yourself. You learned by watching tons of other artists' works. You immitated and tried to find your own style by combining all of the art you ingested. A photographer takes clues from other photographers. A film maker too. Any creative discipline is a lot of taking other people's work and remixing it in your head. Generative AI kinda does the same. The prompter, though, is definitly not an artist. The same way the person who commisions an art piece to be made is not the artist. The art is made by a thing that saw a bunch of artworks and tries to emulate it. Saw should all artists be sued for plagiarism because they saw art before and used what they saw as an inspiration for their work? Probably not. But AIs are not people, and are really far from becoming people.
