All I hear during interviews on the news and in podcasts... the interviewee saying "That's a great question... " and "That's such a good question..." and "I love this question..." and then we are wondering why we have trouble getting our AI models to stop being sycophantic. It's a memetic response that we are (mostly) all doing all the time now, it isn't that old at all - you don't really hear it to the same extent even five years ago - and AI has picked it up too. They're not going to stop until we do.
