This whole AI replacing artists reminds me of a specific artistic context of the early XX century:
When photography came out, European artists went on to start avant-garde movements including surrealism, cubism, futurism, expressionism and Dada. They realized that they didn't have to make hyper-realistic things in order to a work be considered "art". Matter of fact, the "Salon des Refusés" (that exhibited expressionist artworks) back then ended up getting more attention than the Paris Salon.
