Patterns or no patterns, collages or not collages, it makes no difference. The AI tools are scanning artworks they don’t have the permission to scan, and creating artworks far too similar to the original artists. This is the problem for artists, people can use AI tools to replicate their work and it looks like the artists original work so much that the person having AI can replicate it (even if it’s an original idea using the artist’s style) and then charge more for it because it looks like the original artist created it. In the meantime, the original artists receives no compensation for this. The difference between this and artists replicating these pieces by hand is the human difference, while there are many artists who can copy someone else’s work, they always somehow leave their own mark. Our art strokes are very similar to fingerprints in the sense that, while some may be very similar, no two are exactly the same. Machines don’t have the human touch, they have the machine smudge. 🤷♀️
