What is the point of jail anyway? This should be the first question to be answered. If jail is just a way to remove undesirable people from a society, then considering criminals as undesirable people, algorithms to remove those undesirable human individuals are the most efficient way to organize a judiciary system. BUT, if the point of the jail is, instead, rehabilitate people, because we value the human individual more than the losses he/she caused to society, then the first thing that should be solved first is the method of rehabilitation used on the jail system. So that going to jail is helpful to the criminal, for him/she to be a better citizen on society (that's what rehabilitation means). In conclusion, if jailing people is consider a pragmatic, rational and insensitive act of power, then algorithms are great!! If jailing is a humanitarian, sensitive, humane subject even, then the approach to solve the jails system should first assess the unrehabilitational characteristic of the jail system. It's all a matter of perspective, objective and approach...
