We know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that this exposure to tech at a young age and on a constant basis is incredibly bad for young children. We have evidence it's bad for adults too, but adults have a deeper understanding and can act on the information that modern apps are made to cause addiction. As someone in IT for decades, one of the most important distinctions you can make about technology is whether it's virtualizing a part of your life or if it's augmenting your ability to achieve a goal. Is the product intended to cause an addiction and keep your attention or are you buying tickets to an event? Or are you calculating a budget? Technology has turned a corner and is mass producing SLOP. AI slop, brain slop, "info" slop. You need to think very critically about technology now! The rich won't use the slop and people in tech won't touch it either. It's like being the person who'd never eat beef from the company they work for because they see what happens to it behind the scenes.
