I dunno about the later part. I think companies are hiring software engineers to fix AI code, not to be empowered by it.
The software engineers are now reviewers, trying to "teach" a narrow AI to do something and keep doing it based on how much bullshit its probability factor gets until it "learns" from it.
Must be a really annoying and tedious job.
Though I would love to be proven wrong, because bad news can always be mitigated by good news.
