The interviewer doesn’t get the idea at all… The algorithm cannot understand anything beyond its limits or rules. Let’s assume an AI has read all books and has access to all data that has ever existed. When we talk with this AI, it might seem like it creates new information, but it’s only new to you. Someone on the other side of the world may have already had the same idea or had a similar conversation with the same AI. So understanding is not computational, because that leads to a paradox, It’s like trying to explain to a person born blind what a flower looks like. In my view, understanding fundamentally requires something beyond computation, some unconscious force, you might call imagination.
“The most powerful weapon of a person is imagination, based on one’s own perception of the world, and the transformation of oneself into a creator of one’s own life.”
