Good info thanks. When Uber first arrived it was advertised as "Ride Share". I was really hopeful that people would actually share rides because this would actually get cars off the road. I try and pick the share option when I go; but it doesn't save enough off the price to make people choose it. And when I do take an Uber to the airport in Seattle, the driver almost always tells me he is heading back to town empty to get his next ride. Obviously the best option would be really fast, clean, and safe public transportation. Doubt our cities could ever pull that off though so maybe self driving cars or vans with a rideshare option would be helpful.
