Yep I'm in Australia and I really wish our senators would take this kind of stance nice one Bernie.
My job has changed in the last year to a point I've had to adapt or get out.
I'm a Software Engineer and half of my fellow programmers were laid off last year because we now have to use AI to do our job. We have to move into becoming an AI prompter and learn to have AI make our programs. The expectation is making more profit more money for the company because apparently we are now 'quicker'.
I worry that in 2 years I probably won't have a job and I've not done anything else for 25 years, our government will do nothing for us if that happens and I'll probably lose my house.
I support a wife and 2 young adults and one thing I can't see, is the companies doing a dam thing to change and make less money. I've seen what they do first hand, first it was sack the programmers to bring in overseas cheap labour to fill the gaps, now it's AI.
The future is looking pretty bleak for me.
