I tend to agree that our current forms of artificial intelligence are a difference in kind not just degree from human level intelligence. Super intelligent AI isn't going to be achieved just by throwing more data and more computer chips at our current systems.
If it is possible it is still going to require new breakthroughs in both hardware and software.
