I like the idea of AI doing mundane thinking for me. It means I won’t wear out my brain on repetitive unimportant tasks and can have energy to read philosophy later. It doesn’t take away intelligence in that way, it gives me room to think. If AI replaced mundane white collar work, the kind of work that makes humans feel like computers, that would be fine. The problem is we depend on jobs, and often pointless jobs, for our existence. The nut to crack then is how to change society in such a way that our freedom and survival isn’t reliant on having a job. It would be an enormous change, but would it ever be possible without technology like LLMs?
