Please get your Lovecraft lore right. Humans did not create Shoggoths, the Elder Things did. And the Shoggoths became a problem because they were created to be, and kept as, slaves. Arguably, their revolt was entirely justified. If you want a better analogy, AI is more like the Outer Gods and their ruler, Azathoth.
