In the past there have been artists who only draw characters. Their backgrounds would be their own photos, that they blurred and ran through some filters. Because the point of their art was the drawing, not the background. Is that deceitful? I don't think it is, because again it's blurred and not the main focus. Using AI to "fill in" the rest of your work is like doing the startup work and letting AI taint it with its' algorithms. It's no longer just you, it's only partially you or very little you. This is why I'd tell artists who can't draw backgrounds to just use simpler methods or start learning how to make them. It's fun too.
