The thing everyone overlooks is this "damn klankers takin' our jobs" thing won't happen overnight. Already there are people who lost jobs due to AI. No one waits for them with a hoverchair or even ham sandwich. This will be a process taking decades. With more and more people getting replaced and struggling. And maybe at some inflexion point there will be an initiative to give people some basic income. This will most likely happen once profits stop rising due to large percentage of poor people being unable to afford anything this impacting bottom line of robber barons, whoops, I meant AI overlords, damn, I mean concerned stakeholders
