The AI did have a point and it should have stuck to it. While technically lying, we do have nuance within our understanding that sometimes a white lie or partial untruth is necessary in order to uphold polite society. We tend not to accuse people of lying unless it has some greater ulterior motive that does significant damage to a person's well being.
