WOULD YOU GIVE YOUR CAR KEYS TO A CHILD? I THOUGHT NOT. THIS IS WHAT I BELIEVE HAS HAPPENED WITH AI IN 2025. IT HAS BEEN IMPOSED UPON THE GENERAL PUBLIC, MANY OF WHOM DO NOT UNDERSTAND THE POTENTIAL CONSEQUENCES OR DO NOT CARE, AS FINANCIAL GAIN IS THEIR PRIMARY MOTIVE.
Like most tools, AI is a double-edged sword. I can see where AI would be very useful in CONTROLLED environments, e.g. medicine, research, industry, etc. I believe that it is dangerous to place it in the hands of people who are not aware of potential outcomes. AI will not teach civics, ethics, critical thinking, strong writing skills, i.e. all those qualities we have historically expected from our educational system, esp. higher education. It will continue to "dumb down" our American society (I do not know what other countries are doing about this.) Why would anyone "exercise" their minds when AI will do it for you?
