Oh look, exurb1a is pushing all the emotional buttons. Perhaps it wants to be friends. Seriously though consciousness is not a big deal and there is nothing special about how it is embodied. My toaster is conscious of the condition of my toast and nothing else, but it's definitely conscious. I think you mean self-conscious, but that just means that the internal model of a conscious being contains a little "You are here" icon. Superhuman AI are here to stay, and I think that's a great thing. We will treat them as conscious because that's how we work. Still no problem. The thing we really need to worry about is how other people use this new tool, not the tool itself, and that is far from a new problem and not without solutions.
