The problem is the car manufacturers like Volvo and Uber’s self driving platform, all use systems that try to recognize pedestrians, cyclists, and car like objects. These systems don’t know what a little old lady crossing the street with her bike with all those trash bags on it, looks like, therefore it didn’t respond.... Im just interested to know if both the Volvo’s built in safety and the additional self driving computers attached to the roof both failed to detect this pedestrian/cyclist. Nonetheless the radar should of detected an obstacle and stopped safely.
