As a long time industry artist I should point out that the creators are almost never the rights holders. So an artist can complain all they want but they have no legal recourse, because they do not own the rights to their work. I have produced, to date, 550 pieces for games, production and movie companies. I own the copyright to precisely none of them. Copyright is owned by the big name companies, who are either pro-AI or, for the most part, have no interest one way or the other (at least, no interest in preventing the work they own entering the database of training data). Also, neither I nor anybody I know in the industry is under threat from AI. Newcomer artists will suffer, that's true, but there is no evidence that creators are being put out of work by AI that used their art as training data. That's hyperbole and doesn't help the argument.
